Mugwort
What's Inside?
While Mugwort sounds like something out of a fantasy novel, Artemisia vulgaris is very real and has been used for centuries in traditional medicinal practice. Mugwort tea consists of the leaves and stems of the mugwort plant. The liquor is bitter, but can be sweetened with honey or served over ice to improve the flavor. The bitter flavor may aid digestion and help to settle the stomach.
Mugwort is commonly referred to as a “releasing plant” – it is touted for its ability to promote vivid dreaming. Many people prefer to use mugwort to make dream pillows, or herbal sachets, to place under their pillow for aromatherapy.
Mugwort can also promote release in other ways and has been traditionally used as a uterine stimulant to support a regular menstrual cycle. Due to mugwort’s ability to stimulate the uterus, it is NOT safe for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
