What's Inside?
Marshmallow Root - Loose Leaf Botanical
Thriving along marshy banks, Marshmallow or Althea officinalis, is an herbaceous perennial plant with a long and cultured history. The mucilage heavy plant is a part of the Malvaceae family which is cultivated throughout Europe, the United States and North Africa. The mucilage content in the root of the plant varies throughout the growing season so it is best to harvest in the fall and winter months.Â
Marshmallow root contains more mucilage than the leaves of the plant. Marshmallow Root contains high levels of flavonoids that help to support the body and may help to prevent oxidative stress. This gentle, soothing, herbal infusion is a delicious way to wind down. It is advised to consume Marshmallow Root with at least 250mL (8 oz) of liquid. Any orally administered drugs should be taken 1 hour before or several hours after consuming Marshmallow Root as components of the plant may slow absorption.Â
