Eleuthero Root - Botanical Tea Bags
Eleuthero Root, commonly known as Siberian ginseng, is an herb that is commonly utilized in Traditional Chinese Medicine for its adaptogenic qualities. The root, found growing throughout Asia, is often made into teas and extracts. Eleuthero root is harvested when the plant goes dormant and the cortex of the root is used for the most potency. It is worth noting that Siberian ginseng and ‘true ginseng’ (Panax ginseng) are not interchangeable, as their benefits vary substantially.
Eleuthero root is commonly used as an invigorating substance, and is utilized in Traditional Chinese Medicine as a support for general health. The revitalizing nature of the herb is believed to improve endurance and stamina. The concept of an “adaptogen” was first introduced in 1947 when Russian scientists studied Eleuthero root’s effect on the body. They recognized that the herb, which had already been in use for thousands of years, may help the body to adapt to varying stressors. These studies*, which were kept private until the cessation of the USSR, concluded that Eleuthero root “appeared to exhibit benefits for cognitive function and physical and mental endurance.”
